Message: What a loss. A lot of memories surfaced when I heard the sad news. Verlyn had this red car; I think it was a Ford. I remember sitting in it with Jerry on the driveway one minute and being in Mrs. Arnes yard across the street the next. Remember the time we got into the white paint with our hands and "decorated" the Madsons dark brown garage? Verlyn had a lot to deal with three boys and their friends, but he was always a great guy with his big smile and big laugh once in a while if you asked him nice he might just pull out the old accordion and play something for you. The man raised a fine family, had a good wife and from what I know loved what he did. The way I see it, he had every reason to feel proud. we should all be so fortunate. You will truly be missed Verlyn and all my best to Betty, Jerry, Jim and Scott. Mitch Rohrer

Message: Betty, I was so sorry to read of Verlyn's passing. I had just seen him at Dave Wright's visitation in EG in March. We sat and visited for some time helping each other out with names and faces since we have been been gone from EG for some time (18 years for me). On coming to Odebolt, it was always nice to know he wasn't to far away and if it was nice I could easily just stop into to visit as they watched the traffic roll on by. Verylyn wasw a wonderful teacher when I was in high school and became a good friend. He will truly be missed.
